How a good idea ends up being a bad mani...

I like easter nails (all nails covered with different pastel colors) or rainbow nails. So, I decided to try a all-in-the-same-family color nails. I can do that easily with my pinks so here we go :

Thumb to pinkie : Revlon bubble gum, Revlon Posh Pink, Zoya Jordana, Revlon Sheer Blossom, Zoya Jane

NOTD : reasons of the failure IMO:
-finish is not the same for each color (cream to sheer)
-colors were showing quite a nice wide range in the bottles but once applied on the nails Revlon Sheer Blossom and Zoya Jane are too close to make a nice change
-Zoya Jordana is too salmonish to fit in with the other pinks that are more on the cool side

Well I tried !

Hope you'll get inspiration and try it with your own favorite color

PS : I lost 4.2 lbs in 3 weeks...which is the target (about 1 lbs a week) but gosh it is soooooooooo hard to resist ice creams when the weather is so hot ....

The day I saved my mani...

Don't you like dramatic title? I feel like the producer of a big bad movie who's gonna make lots of $$$ with poor acting but loud music and tons of special effects.

Anyway, let's concentrate and go back to my sad mani. Yesterday, I was sad to discover that my Zoya Jordana was not meeting my expectations...So with a vengeful hand, I decided to Konad it. I started with a red Zoya : Isabel which looks raspberry pink instead of red. I was a little bit disappointed by the lack of contrast, then I read advices from Suzie and Short and Sweet Nails : they told me to Konad it dark. So I reached out for my Resist and Shine titanium (732 : very dark purple, looks black with flash of purple when alone on the nails) and again I konaded !

The result is quite pretty I think, messy but nice ! What do you think ?

Shocker : an unloved nail polish !

There is something deeply wrong with this Nail polish : Jordana from Zoya. This color looks horrendous against my skin tone. It looks like a cheap frosted varnish from the 80's...Then the tip wear lasted 24h (I put it on yesterday night and it showed signs of weakness today !). But that's not it, it chipped (ring finger on 2nd pic)...Last but not least, this is a 3 coats application and you can see through it. I will Konad it tonight to try to make it work (I hate not using my products !). I guess I showed quite clearly my colors but if any doubt subsides : shame on you , Zoya !

EOTD : soft and girly pink and purple combo (Pink from Sleek Sunset palette, Purple from Bohemian palette and Print (MAC) to darken the outer V).

I haven't posted a FOTD as on the pics I took, I looked :
1- on drugs
2- like I drank 100000000 martinis
3- hysterical with my hair like a fur ball all over my face
1, 2 or 3 were all true in the whole bunch of pics I took. As I was heading to work (blah for working on week ends), I was neither under the influence of alcoholic beverage nor illicit drugs so I kept my pictures for the "move to trash" button ;-)

The Konad experiment

Sadly, I tortured a little bit my Zoya Isabel mani today. So the tips are uneven and it begins to chip...As I knew my mani was to get "acetoned" tonight, I choose to experiment with my Konad plates as I am a messy beginner... Here is the result of my practice : some "art éphémère" doomed to disappear without a trace !

The little skeleton makes me giggle. I can't help it ....

Swatch : Zoya Isabel

Those pictures were taken outside. I found this was the best way to capture the "redness" of this polish! It looked darker in the bottle than it is in reality. At the beginning, that annoyed me a little bit until I looked at my hands in the sun...BAM ! glittery, gorgeous nails appeared from nowhere ...
I first bought this color because I thought it would be a nice red to wear at work...But I am not sure it's office appropriate finally....What do you think ? Red shoes are hot with a black suit. Is it working the same for nail polishes ? ... May be I'll look like a Xmas tree in April (Funny but tempting !...)

Have a nice Sunday

Konad experiment : Zoya jane in the clouds !

So this is my 4th attempt to Konad ...not convinced yet as the clouds and rain seems to get smudged and not as precised as I would wish them to be...At first I thought those approximations were caused by the use of other nail polishes than the ones that are meant to be used with the plates! But on this one I painted with the Konad nail varnish and still, the details are not flawless. SIGH !

Now I wish you could bow with respect for my work to show you the plates and varnish that I used. It nearly gave me a stroke to take that work of art !!!!

Have a nice Easter week end and eat chocolate...

NOTD : Jane from Zoya

So, if you follow my blog, you know that I am under a strange spell. Let me explain for those who just subscribed (welcome in my blog!): from time to time after wearing nail polish, I swell ....eyelids , lips and then I peel...like crazy. Absolutely yummy, I must say. So after doing a little research, I found that Zoya could be an option for me : less chemical atrocity, it seems in those little bottles. So the adventurous side of me went to chase those little gems. My wallet is more efficient than a GPS to find things to buy so I ended up getting 3 Zoyas and here is the first one : Jane.

Jane is a lovely milky color. It disappointed me a little bit as I asked the saleswoman if you can build the color and have opacity and she answered : Yes, ma'am. We probably don't have the same version of opacity because after 3 coats, I can see through it ! Next time , I'll try a matte white underneath. On an other hand, this color is very pretty: This Jane girl was probably an english flower : pale porcelain skin, pearls around the neck. So her polish is classy and very office appropriate. I'll think I'll spice it up tomorrow with a Konad. What do you think about blue clouds ?

Have a nice day !
